Wake Up and Make Up
If you know me, it's no secret that I love makeup. I'm all for natural beauty, but the truth of the matter is that I feel more confident wearing makeup, and there's nothing wrong with that; to each his or her own! I occasionally get asked about the products I use as well as application techniques, so today I'm sharing some of my favorite products. Keep reading to find out all about them as well as where each of them can be purchased.
1 | NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer | I've been using this concealer for years, and I don't see myself straying from it any time soon. It goes on smoothly and provides great coverage under my eyes and on any blemishes I want covered up. I apply it after foundation and set it with a little bit of powder foundation so it stays put and doesn't feel sticky.
2 | BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfecter Pressed Highlighter in Opal | Highlighting has been all the rage for awhile now, and BECCA Cosmetics is famous for its Shimmering Skin Perfecter. This is the final step of my makeup routine; I use a fan brush to sweep a small amount at the top of cheekbones, and use my finger to dab some above my lip and down the bridge of my nose.
3 | Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer | My skin can be (and has been) compared to an oil slick, and I have tried many different primers in order to combat this. This product is easily the best one I've found so far. It's a bit pricey, but my last tube lasted over five months (I kept track, so I could justify it) with everyday use.
4 | Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Anti-Aging | If you're not using an eyeshadow primer, you're doing it wrong. This keeps my eyeshadow from creasing all day long. I use it on my eyelids as well as under my eyes to provide a little extra staying power for my concealer.
5 | Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz | One time as I was walking through the Mall of America, a teenage girl shouted in my face that my eyebrows were on fleek, and that goes down as one of the greatest days of my life (kidding, but only kind of). I have Anastasia Beverly Hills to thank for that. I use this brow pencil to lightly outline the brow shape I want and fill in the portions that are slightly lacking.
6 | Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo | After I shape my eyebrows with the Brow Wiz, I go through and apply the Powder Duo with a small angled brush in order to blend it all in and avoid a hard line. These two products work wonders together!
7 | Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation | My main reason for purchasing this foundation was that it came in a very fair shade and had great reviews. I love the color, but usually still mix it with another foundation plus a foundation lightener to get my desired shade (why am I so pale?!).
8 | NARS Bronzing Powder in Laguna | This has to be the most popular bronzer around. I've been using it for years, and will probably continue to do so until it's discontinued. I put a very small amount on a powder brush and lightly sweep it to the hollow area under my cheekbones to make them pop a little bit. I follow it up with NARS blush applied to the apples of my cheeks for a nice rosy glow.
9 | Buxom Full-On Lip Cream in White Russian | This lip gloss has my heart. I use it every day, and again, it's a product I've been using for years. It's technically a plumping gloss, though I don't notice my lips looking any fuller during its use. I love it for the nude color and shine it offers, as well as the minty and refreshing feeling that comes with it. Just a warning: any drinks or kisses you share while wearing this will have the other person wondering why their lips are tingling. Just tell them it's your magical essence.
10 | MAKE UP FOREVER Ultra HD Microfinishing Loose Powder | My makeup routine isn't complete without a finishing powder, specifically this one. It's so fine, which makes my skin feel soft and smooth and gives it that perfect airbrushed (within reason) look.
11 | Jouer Long-Wear Lip Creme in Petale De Rose | I have this liquid lipstick in three different colors and love them all. They stay on for hours and dry quickly.
12 | Jouer Essential Lip Enhancer in Translucent Light Pink | The name says it all. This is my essential post-shower and pre-bed lip balm. It's so smooth and soft, and I love the way it makes my lips feel and look.
13 | Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara | Walk, don't run to your nearest Sephora for this mascara. I recently converted after using a different mascara for a few years, and I'm so glad I did. It gives great volume and length, and it doesn't get dry or flaky. To keep each tube lasting longer, I use a little bit of my rosewater and glycerin spray.
